Build a trading empireor wage wars.

A multiplayer city builder that runs in your browser. Clear a real forest, shape your own land, and trade every resource and item on a live market run by other players. Raise an army, or stay peaceful and get rich anyway.

Early prototype. The world is standing, but it is a rough diamond: the detail and the polish are still being cut.

Multiplayer first

You are not building this alone.

Most city builders leave you alone with a beautiful map. Hercynia puts other people into the same world, without forcing you into real time. You act when you have time, and the world keeps running while you are away.

  • One shared economy

    Playable now

Every player draws from and feeds into the same market. What you produce matters because someone else needs it.

  • Visit your neighbours

    Planned

Put other players on the edges of your map and look at how they build. Read only, no permission needed, nothing to break.

  • Global chat and guilds

    Planned

Talk, organise, specialise. Trade routes and alliances are worth more than any single building.

  • Progress while offline

    Playable now

Your lumberjacks keep working when the tab is closed. The server owns the clock, so nobody can cheat it.

The economy

The economy belongs to the players.

As deep as an economy simulation, without looking like a spreadsheet. Post an offer, watch the order book, follow the price over time. Every trade settles in one atomic server transaction, so there is no duplication and no half finished deal.

  • Live order book

    Playable now

Open offers from real players, sorted by price. Buy directly or undercut them.

  • Trade history and price charts

    In progress

See what things actually sold for, not what a shop pretends they are worth.

  • Everything is tradeable

    Planned

Raw resources, crafted goods, rare finds and equipment. If you own it, you can sell it.

  • Specialise on purpose

    Planned

Go all in on timber, on stone, on crafting. You do not need to produce everything yourself.

Two paths

Take it by force, or make them need you.

Hercynia has two long term ways to win, and neither is the polite one. You can choose a side later, and you can stay on one side forever.

The merchant

Your home base is protected. You get deeper production chains, better logistics and stronger trade progression. Your caravans and expeditions can still be raided on the road, so you decide the route, the cargo and the escort.

  • Deep production and crafting
  • Caravans and expeditions to unknown places
  • Rare finds that nobody else can produce
  • Hire other players as escorts

The warlord

Asynchronous attacks: scout, plan, send your army, come back to a report. Equip your troops with items you found, crafted or bought, then take what you could not build.

  • Asynchronous attacks and reports
  • Equip armies with rare items
  • Loot that flows back into the market
  • Alliances and warrior guilds

You never have to fight. Peaceful players get their own full progression, their own rare goods and their own endgame. Offline players stay protected.

The world

Shape the land, do not just decorate it.

The forest is your first obstacle and your first resource at the same time. Every tree your lumberjacks take down is really gone, and the clearing it leaves behind is where your village grows. Place and rotate buildings freely, the way you want them, not the way a grid wants them.

Items

Gear you can be proud of.

Items with real rarity, equipped on your armies and traded like everything else. Rarity comes from where an item came from and how well it was made, not from a random colour roll. There are no paid loot boxes.

Several honest sources

Battle loot, expeditions, high end crafting, reputation rewards and player trade. No single path owns the best gear.

Rarity you can explain

Base type, material quality, craftsmanship, modifiers and origin. Not a slot machine.

Everything reaches the market

Found something you cannot use? Someone else will pay for it.

The item system is in design. This is what we are building towards.

Anywhere

Your empire fits in a browser tab.

Nothing to install, nothing to update, no launcher. Open a tab at work, check your stock on the train, post an offer from a cafe and close it again. Hercynia is built asynchronous on purpose, so five minutes are a real turn.

Desktop and phone
The same world, the same account, the same save. Touch controls on mobile, full camera control on desktop.
Real 3D, not a menu
A modern browser renders the whole world with WebGPU. No plugin, no download.
Five minutes are enough
Production keeps running without you. Come back, decide, leave again.

Founders

Founder packages

When the demo is ready we will offer founder packages for the people who want this game to exist. Until then, here is exactly what will be in them, so nobody is surprised later.

Purely cosmetic. No advantage in the game, no advantage on the market.

Founder seals

Founder seals only buy cosmetics: houses, castles, banners, crests, profile frames and decoration. They are not tradeable and cannot be turned into resources. They never touch the player market.

Prices are not final.

Questions

Straight answers.

Does it cost anything?

No. The prototype is free and you only need an email address and a password. Later there will be optional cosmetic purchases and founder packages, never a paywall in front of the game.

Do I have to download anything?

No. Hercynia runs in the browser. No launcher, no installer, no plugin, no updates to wait for.

Is it pay to win?

No, and this is the one promise we will not bend. Everything you can buy is cosmetic: houses, castles, banners, crests and decoration. Nothing you can buy produces resources, shortens build times or gives you an edge on the market.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. The same account and the same world work on desktop and mobile. On a phone you get touch controls and a graphics setting to keep the frame rate comfortable.

How is this different from the big single player city builders?

Those are single player at heart. In Hercynia the other players are the point: one shared economy, prices made by people, and later attacks, guilds and trade routes. Your settlement is yours alone, but it is not isolated.

How is this different from the classic browser strategy games?

We kept what made them work: no ticking, no grind, decisions that pay off while you are away. On top of that comes an actual 3D world you reshape, deep production chains, a real player market and an item system with rarities. The old formula, with a world you can look at.

Do I have to fight?

No. Combat is one of two equal paths. A merchant gets a protected home base, their own progression, their own rare goods and their own endgame. You can play the whole game without ever raising an army.

What can I actually play right now?

You can create a settlement, clear the forest with real lumberjacks, place and rotate buildings freely, watch your wood come in while you are offline, and trade on the marketplace prototype. What is missing is the loop that ties it all together, and that is what we are building next.

What happens to my progress after the prototype?

We will very likely reset the world at least once before launch, because the economy balance will change fundamentally. We will say so clearly and in advance, never quietly.

When will it be finished?

No date, on purpose. We would rather ship something good late than something bad on time. Follow along and you will see it grow week by week.

The forest is already standing.

Go in, take a look around, cut down a tree. Then tell us what it needs.
